I really do not mean this as a criticism of either book! I'm enjoying them both quite a lot (Ok, maybe enjoying Crossed a titch more!), but I just keep getting confused because they are so darn similar.
What do you think, book lovers? Did I miss any other similarities? Can you think of another book pairing where it was easy to confuse the two stories?

Ha! That is very close isn't it?? Wow. Great chart, I like seeing it all mapped out. I couldn't finish Crossed and I find myself liking Oliver's series a bit more at this point but the similarities are so very there!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow those are a heck of a lot of similarities! I'm a huge lover of Delirium and am reading Pandemonium now, but still need to read the Matched trilogy. I'll definitely be looking for the comparisons when I start it! Loved your chart too!
ReplyDeleteLol! I guess that's one of the dangers of reading more than one book at a time (though I do it all the time). I haven't read either of these series yet, but I remember thinking that they sounded similar in nature when they first came out.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize the similarities - but there are quite a lot of them, aren't there?! Maybe it's just that there are special requirements for dystopian societies in a writing handbook somewhere.
ReplyDeleteSince I looooved Matched, sounds like I need to add Delirium to my TBR. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteLOVED your chart ;)
ReplyDeleteI think they probably have a lot of similarities with other dystopian novels, as well. I didn't really notice, although I read those books back to back last year, but Lena and Cassia are so different in my mind that it never occurred to me....
ReplyDeleteI think since I read these two months apart from each other I didn't really notice the similarities... but wow. They do have a lot of the same themes. However, I think a lot of dystopian books have some of these themes, so it could slightly be coincidental. Love the chart though :)
ReplyDeleteYup, I remember thinking these were really similar too. And really, the comparisons don't stop there. Many, many dystopians coming out these days seem to follow the same basic formula.
