In the interest of kicking this new year off by trying new things, I'm joining my very first challenge! It's the YA Series Challenge and it's being hosted by Shannon from Stalking the Bookshelves and Britney and Farrah from I Eat Words. Yay! Thanks, ladies.
Here are a few of the guidelines:
- The series must be YA or MG
- All series must have at least 3 books out by the end of 2011
- You don't have to read all of the books in the series. However many you choose to read will count toward your total
I'm entering at Level 5: Beyond Obsessed in an attempt to read 17-22 books in a series.
Here are the series I'm considering so far:
- The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater (so far I've only read Shiver!)
- The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa (I've read zero)
- The Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (I've read zero)
- The Hush, Hush triology by Becca Fitzpatrick (I've read zero)
- The Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner (I've read zero)
- The Gone series by Michael Grant (I've read zero - except for about 100 pages of Gone)
Here are my questions:
1. Do y'all have any other series to recommend?
2. Is the Megan Whalen Turner series really called "The Queen's Thief series?"
3. Does anyone know what the third book in the Caster Chronicles series will be titled?
4. How do I get one of those little tracker thingys that shows how far I am in the challenge?
5. And how do those tracker thingys work anyway?
Help!

I'm not sure if the that's really the series name for Turner's books. The third Caster book doesn't have an official title yet and if you go to Small Reviews, she explains how to get the progress bars.

Hooray! Thank you! I just added the tracker thingy, which I now know is called a progress bar :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go check out that Goodreads link now. Thank you Shannon!
Yay! I'm glad the progress bar instructions worked for you! There's also another post that shows you how to change the colors, size, and borders. Big thanks to Shannon for directing you to my blog!
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know the series is called The Queen's Thief. I'm going to try to read that one for this challenge too. I also have the Gone series on my list and The Iron Fey (I read the first one and, eeeek it's good!)
Can't wait to see how you like all these books!
Love the books you chose! And I think I'm going to put up a progress bar to!
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to reading the Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine. I have only read the first in the series and I LOVED it. If you haven't read that series, I'd suggest it. :) Another series is the Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare. The fourth one will be published this year.
I love the series you have chosen. I need to add some more to what I plan on reading. haha
And thanks for signing up for the challenge! I'm a new follower to your blog as well. :D
This sounds like a fun challenge. I need to find a YA series, I haven't read, that I'm interested in. Several preferably. Hmmm....

I totally could have added The Wolves of Mercy Falls Series and The Iron Fey Series to my list but I was trying to narrow it down to the series I want to read right away because the max for the challenge was 16 books. But I still really want to read those series for sure! Looking forward to hearing what you think of them!
ReplyDeleteOoooo these are such great picks! I totally forgot to add the Gone series to my list. I look forward to reading your reviews on them!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck! :)
Oh my gosh, you have SO MUCH good reading ahead of you. I'm, like, overly excited for you :)
ReplyDeleteWanted to thank you for suggesting Patrick Ness' series, it sounds really good and I'm adding it to the goodreads link list. BTW did the list help you out at al? Do you have any more series suggestions for the list? The link did work, right?
ReplyDeleteSeries? You go girl!
ReplyDeletePretty Little Liars is an awesome series! :) I'm addicted to it right now.
